Plantar Warts in Kennewick, WA
Plantar Warts in Kennewick: Expert Care at Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates

Plantar warts may seem like a minor nuisance, but for many residents of Kennewick, WA, they can become a painful obstacle to everyday life. These warts, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), develop on the soles of the feet and often grow inward due to the pressure of walking or standing. The result is a sharp, pebble-like pain that makes even simple activities—like walking across the room, exercising, or working on your feet—all the more difficult. Left untreated, plantar warts can multiply, recur, and cause ongoing discomfort that interferes with mobility and quality of life.
Dr. Derrick McKay, a Kennewick native who returned to the Tri-Cities after completing his medical training in Chicago and Boston, has more than a decade of experience in podiatry and foot and ankle surgery. He understands how debilitating foot pain can be, and he often reminds patients that “you don’t realize how important your feet are until pain interferes with daily activities.” His mission is to help patients “get back on their feet” and resume normal life with confidence.
When it comes to plantar wart treatment, Dr. McKay offers both conservative and advanced solutions depending on severity. For mild cases, he may recommend topical medications, cryotherapy (freezing the wart), or laser therapy to eliminate the growth. For stubborn or recurring warts, he performs minor surgical procedures to remove the wart tissue and prevent regrowth. His expertise in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery ensures that patients receive precise care with reduced downtime, allowing them to return to their routines quickly.
Beyond plantar warts, Dr. McKay’s practice at Benton Franklin Orthopedic Associates covers a wide range of foot and ankle conditions. He specializes in sports medicine, trauma care, and deformity corrections for both pediatric and adult patients. He also offers advanced therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for ankle injuries, which promote healing and reduce pain without surgery. By combining modern techniques with compassionate care, Dr. McKay ensures that every patient receives comprehensive treatment tailored to their unique needs.
